Recently, Du Xin, chief engineer of the Geological Bureau of Henan Province, told the reporter of China Mining News that after nearly two years of exploration, the predicted gold resources of Tongbai Laowan gold deposit can reach more than 500 tons.
Henan Province spans three tectonic units of North China Plate, Yangtze Plate and Qinling orogenic belt, with complete strata exposure, strong magmatic activity, complex geological structure and diverse mineralization. It is one of the provinces with rich mineral resources in China. According to the data, as of the end of 2019, there were 158 single rock gold deposits in Henan Province, 54 total and associated gold deposits, with a total of 1,822.27 tons of gold resources/reserves, and a total of 32.4 tons of associated resources/reserves. Reserves/reserves 598.70 tons. By 2019, 166 boreholes have been completed in the integrated exploration area of Lao Wan Gold mine, with a depth of 115,800 meters, a ore finding rate of 94%, and a gold resource of 208 tons submitted. It is the largest independent gold deposit in the history of Henan Province
Du Xin said that after nearly two years of exploration and drilling by Henan Provincial Geological Bureau, it has broken through the previous view that there is no ore in the deep part of the Laowan rock mass, and obtained the important view that "Laowan granite thrust overlies the Gushan rock formation of the ore formation, and there are gold ore bodies in the lower part of the rock mass". After more than 80 boreholes verification, more than 10 layers of gold ore bodies have been controlled. The gold mineralization space of Laowan gold belt is extended to the granite mass, which greatly expands the prospecting space. After ore-forming prediction, the depth of ore body controlled by drilling is -1298.41 meters, which is 948.41 meters higher than that of predecessors, and the depth of ore body controlled is more than 1684 meters, but the ore body is still not sealed. It is inferred that the depth of gold mineralization in Laowan ductile shear zone can reach 2000 meters.
It is reported that at present, the control depth of other sections of the Laowan gold mine is generally -250 meters, the deepest is less than -400 meters, the inclined depth is generally 500 meters, the maximum 664 meters, such as according to the metallogenic depth of the Shangshanghe ore section and the submitted resources analogy, the deep mineralization potential of the Laowan gold mine is huge, and the predicted gold resources can reach more than 500 tons. The breakthrough of deep prospecting in Laowan gold mine has great guiding significance for gold geological prospecting in Henan province and even in the whole country.
